Your due date is an estimate of when your baby will arrive. While only about 5% of babies arrive exactly on their due date, knowing when to expect your baby helps you prepare for their arrival and ensures proper prenatal care throughout your pregnancy.
The most common method. Your due date is calculated as 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last period, adjusted for your cycle length.
If you know when you conceived or ovulated, this can be more accurate. Your due date is 266 days (38 weeks) from conception.
For IVF pregnancies, the due date is based on your embryo transfer date and embryo age. Often the most accurate method.
Early ultrasounds (8-13 weeks) provide accurate dating based on your baby's size. Your provider may adjust your due date accordingly.
