About

Dr Anne Clark - Pioneer Female CREI Specialist and Fertility First Founder

Dr Anne Clark is the Medical Director at Fertility First and one of Australia's leading fertility specialists. She made history as the first female doctor in Australia to obtain the CREI subspecialist qualification in reproductive medicine and fertility more than 28 years ago. Her clinic, Fertility First, is the only remaining independently owned fertility unit in Sydney.

Training and Background

Dr Clark earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in Otago, New Zealand, followed by a Diploma in Obstetrics in Auckland in 1980. She began fertility work in 1985 as a registrar at New Zealand's first IVF Unit at the National Women's Hospital, then qualified in obstetrics and gynaecology in the UK in 1986. In 1990, she came to Australia to work on a donor egg program at the Reproductive Medicine Unit in Adelaide's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Dr Clark launched Fertility First within Hurstville Private Hospital in 1997, establishing what has become a leading Sydney IVF clinic.

Leadership and Recognition

Dr Clark is the elected medical representative on the Board of the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand, the national governing body. She sits on the executive of the IVF Directors Group and is a Director of ACCESS, the national patient support group. She is an internationally recognised expert on polycystic ovarian disease and lectures nationally and internationally on fertility health and wellbeing.
