Dr Christine Kirby - Pioneer in Australian IVF Since 1982
Dr Christine Kirby is a pioneer in IVF and fertility management in Australia, having worked in reproductive medicine since 1982. As Medical Director for Repromed Northern Territory and Deputy Medical Director for Repromed Adelaide, she has helped shape the fertility industry in Australia over four decades.
Training and Background
Dr Kirby trained as a specialist in Adelaide and Auckland, becoming one of the early leaders in Australian reproductive medicine. She was a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Adelaide and has trained many fertility specialists throughout her career.
Industry Leadership
Dr Kirby was part of the Repromed team from its establishment by the University of Adelaide in 1987. She participated in the 2006 management buyout and helped establish Healthbridge Enterprises with Ironbridge, leading to the 2009 purchase of Monash IVF and the 2014 public listing. She served six years as State Chair for RANZCOG, was a member of the Reproductive Technology Council of SA, and held committee positions with the Fertility Society of Australia.
Recognition
Dr Kirby was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women Awards in 2001 and 2003, recognising her contribution to both clinical care and the business of fertility medicine.
