Dr Clare Boothroyd is one of Australia's most distinguished fertility specialists, with over twenty years of experience dedicated to the treatment of infertility, training new clinicians, and advancing fertility treatments. She is the Medical Director of Care Fertility at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane and also consults in Cairns.

She is one of only four clinicians in Queensland to hold the prestigious Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI)—the highest qualification for fertility specialists in Australia and New Zealand. Dr Boothroyd holds the rare distinction of dual fellowship in both Endocrinology (FRACP) and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (FRANZCOG), providing her patients with unparalleled expertise in the hormonal and reproductive aspects of fertility care. She is also an accredited robotic surgeon at Greenslopes Private Hospital.

Dr Boothroyd is a former President of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (ANZSREI) and currently serves as President of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction. She has been instrumental in training doctors in best practice infertility management for many years and has shaped fertility policy and practice across Australia and New Zealand.

Training & Background

Dr Boothroyd completed her MBBS (Hons) and undertook dual specialist training in both Endocrinology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology—a unique combination that provides her patients with comprehensive expertise in the hormonal and reproductive aspects of fertility. She holds a Master of Medical Science (M Med Sci), an Executive MBA, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

She has been in private practice at Greenslopes Private Hospital since 2000 and became Medical Director of Care Fertility in 2015. Dr Boothroyd served as Chair of Gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital from 2001 to 2008 and has held numerous leadership positions in fertility medicine across Australia and New Zealand.


Research & Leadership

Dr Boothroyd has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics including IVF outcomes, ovarian stimulation protocols, PCOS management, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome prevention, and Australia's fertility rates. She has been an invited member of the NHMRC Mitochondrial Donation Expert Working Committee (2018-2019) and has contributed to national guidelines for ethical practice in assisted reproduction.
