Dr Fiona Cowell is an experienced Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist based in Fitzroy, Victoria. She specialises in high and low risk obstetrics as well as infertility, and is committed to providing inclusive, affirming care for all patients.


Dr Cowell qualified in 1997 from Monash University where she achieved the Queen Victoria Hospital Award. After an intern year at Box Hill Hospital and working at the Royal Women's Hospital in Neonatology, she commenced postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Women's Hospital in 2000.


She spent ten years at the Mercy Hospital for Women where she developed her expertise in high-risk cases, teaching, and mentoring. Dr Cowell completed a fellowship year of training in infertility with RANZCOG in 2009 and holds a Masters in Reproductive Medicine.

Training & Background

Dr Cowell completed her medical degree at Monash University in 1997, receiving the Queen Victoria Hospital Award. She trained at the Royal Women's Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women, where she was subsequently appointed consultant obstetrician. She completed a fellowship in infertility with RANZCOG in 2009 and earned her Masters in Reproductive Medicine.


She holds a public appointment at the Mercy Hospital for Women and also consults at St Vincent's Private Hospital and Epworth Freemasons Victoria Parade. Dr Cowell is actively engaged in training medical students from the University of Melbourne and attends conferences regularly to remain current with the latest research.
