Prof Hayden Homer - Queensland Medical Director and World-Leading Researcher
Professor Hayden Homer is one of Australia's leading Gynaecologists and IVF specialists with over 20 years' experience and is a world-leader in research into egg quality. As Medical Director of Queensland Fertility Group and clinical lead for fertility at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, he is the only fertility specialist in Queensland to hold advanced CREI accreditation from both Australia and the UK.
Training and Background
Professor Homer graduated with Honours from the University of the West Indies in 1992 and trained in the UK for 17 years at leading reproductive medicine units including with the team that developed the world's first mitochondrial transfer treatment. He holds specialist qualifications from both Australia/New Zealand (FRANZCOG, CREI) and UK (MRCOG, CCSST), the first international graduate to achieve CREI through equivalence.
Academic Leadership
Professor Homer is University of Queensland's first Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Director of the Oocyte Biology Research Laboratory at UQ Centre for Clinical Research. He holds Australia's first and only fully endowed Chair in Reproductive Medicine and holds a PhD in fertility research from the UK.
