Dr Ruth Hodgson is an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist with a keen interest in endometriosis-related infertility. She is a local to the Far North Queensland region and practices with Queensland Fertility Group in Cairns.


Dr Hodgson completed her undergraduate training at James Cook University in both Townsville and Cairns, graduating in 2007. She commenced obstetrics and gynaecology training in Sydney in 2011 and during this time also worked in Auckland, New Zealand, where she gained experience in fertility treatment at a dedicated clinic associated with Auckland City Hospital.


Following her RANZCOG membership exams, she was awarded the RANZCOG Medal for Outstanding Achievement. She is currently undertaking her Masters of Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales.

Training & Background

Dr Hodgson completed her medical degree at James Cook University (2007) in Townsville and Cairns. She commenced O&G training in Sydney in 2011, with additional experience in Auckland, New Zealand at a fertility clinic associated with Auckland City Hospital. She returned to Cairns to complete her final year and has since worked as a specialist obstetrician gynaecologist at Cairns Hospital.


She was awarded the RANZCOG Medal for Outstanding Achievement following her membership exams and is currently completing her Masters of Reproductive Medicine at UNSW. She works alongside Dr Anne Coffey at QFG in Cairns.
