Dr Hugo Fernandes is a leading gynaecologist and fertility specialist in Melbourne, dedicated to providing patient-centred care and ensuring every patient feels empowered to make informed decisions about their health. As a co-founder and clinical director at Newlife IVF, he offers IVF cycles and specialist fertility care tailored entirely to the individual needs of each patient.
World-Class Training in Surgery & Fertility
Dr Fernandes grew up in Melbourne and completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash Health in 2011, where he developed his passion for minimally invasive and advanced gynaecological surgery. He took the unusual step of also training on a colorectal and general surgical unit to expand his expertise.
In 2014, he completed a two-year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at The Royal Women's Hospital and became one of the first AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society) accredited laparoscopic surgeons. He subsequently pursued a Masters in Reproductive Medicine from UNSW and undertook IVF and fertility training with a world-renowned unit.

Professional Leadership
He holds public appointments on the Advanced Endosurgical Units at Monash Health and The Royal Women's Hospital. An active member of AGES, he is regularly invited to speak at scientific meetings and is involved in training new fellows. His professional memberships include RANZCOG, AGES, FSA, ESHRE, RSM, and ASRM.
