Professor Michael Chapman AM is one of Australia's most highly profiled and respected fertility specialists, with over 3,500 successful pregnancies resulting from his care. He is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UNSW and Clinical Director of IVF Australia Southern Sydney, bringing world-class expertise and compassionate care to patients navigating infertility.
Training and Background
Professor Chapman graduated from the University of Adelaide and gained his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of London, where he was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Guy's Hospital. He is a Fellow of RANZCOG and FRCOG, and an examiner for the CREI certification in Australia. After 15 years abroad, he returned to Australia as Professor at UNSW.
International Impact
Professor Chapman has been involved in setting up IVF services in London, Naples, Jeddah, and Sydney. He has over 200 scientific publications and has trained more than 40 senior fertility specialists worldwide. As Chair of the FSA IVF Directors Group, he led the world-first policy of single embryo transfer in 2004, significantly reducing twin pregnancies and complications.
