Dr Myuran Ponnam-Palam is a Fertility Specialist with broad-ranging clinical experience in male and female infertility issues, gained in both Australia and the US. He is a qualified Obstetrician Gynaecologist with an additional Sub-specialty in Infertility IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology gained through training in Sydney and Melbourne.
Training and Background
Having grown up in Traralgon, Victoria, Dr Ponnam-Palam commenced undergraduate studies at Monash University and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Sydney. He completed a thesis examining the role of progesterone and anti-progestins in modifying reproductive tract receptivity and holds a Masters in Medicine from the University of Sydney in Reproductive Science. He further developed his reproductive surgical skills at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University.
Awards and Recognition
The Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology awarded Dr Ponnam-Palam the Young Gynaecologist Award for his work examining the use of AMH in IVF. He also received a Merck Serono award for his presentation on Pelvic complications with IVF.
Practice and Accessibility
He is the Clinical Director of The Fertility Centre Clinic in Berwick and also practices at Melbourne IVF's Mt Waverley fertility clinic. He offers extended consulting hours into late evenings and Saturdays to accommodate patients seeking fertility advice. He is able to consult with patients in Tamil if preferred.
