Dr Susan Winspear - Comprehensive Fertility and Obstetric Specialist

Dr Susan Winspear is a Gynaecologist, Fertility Specialist, and Obstetrician based in Newcastle. She is the only fertility specialist in the Hunter region to provide fertility care, obstetrics, obstetric ultrasound, and prenatal testing as a combined service, offering unique continuity of care from IVF through to pregnancy and delivery.

Training and Background

Dr Winspear was born in Sydney and attended university there, attaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from UNSW with first-class honours. She undertook specialist training at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, also spending time working in the Northern Territory and with indigenous communities. She completed a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound in 1999.

Leadership Experience

Dr Winspear established a private and public practice in Launceston, Tasmania in 2000, working for 12 years in this area. During this time, she managed a large specialist obstetric and gynaecology, ultrasound, and prenatal diagnosis practice serving all of northern Tasmania. She served as Director and Medical Director of her IVF unit and founded the first prenatal diagnosis and high-risk ultrasound practice in Northern Tasmania.

Since returning to Newcastle, Dr Winspear provides comprehensive care throughout patients' reproductive lives. She can perform fertility treatments and surgery including IVF, and then provide obstetric care, ultrasound, and prenatal diagnosis - ensuring all aspects of care with the same doctor at the same practice.
